More Power over Ethernet

Luxcom Technologies expands its product diversities!
September 16, 2008

Here we grow again, with a new product offering based on our proven PoE technology; the OM1000P power over ethernet media converter. The OM1000P media converter has one optical and one electrical port. It primarily connects a 1000BASE-T Ethernet device to a 1000BASE-X fiber optic Local Area Network over a pair of optical fibers; however a switch setting also allows it to connect a 100BASE-TX electrical port to a 100BASE-FX optical network. The transceiver architecture is not switch based; therefore the unit transmits the data as it is received with only a few bits of delay. The OM1000P can supply 48 Volts to attached equipment for PoE applications. The optical I/O uses an SFP pluggable interface that supports a variety of modules. Auto-negotiation provides plug-and-play operation on the electrical and optical ports. Alternately the unit may be manually configured for MDI/MDI-X and full/half duplex operation. A serial port allows performance and configuration monitoring.

Features
- 5 Year warranty
- SFP optical interface
- Supports 10KB jumbo packets
- Heavily shielded case
- Supplies power for PoE applications
- Diagnostic monitor port
- IEEE 802.3ah compatible
- Auto or manual configuration
- Internal power supply
- Link failure pass through

* NEW * Fiber Optic Ethernet to Serial Data Bridge

OM100S bridges the gap
September 16, 2008

The OM100S converts Ethernet packets to serial HDLC data. The optical port of the OM100S connects to a 100BASEFX Ethernet port. The electrical port connects to a synchronous serial modem. At the far end of this modem link, the data is input to another OM100S, and from there output onto a 100BASE-FX network. Thus, two Ethernet devices or networks can be bridged with a serial link. It is sometimes used with a secure terminal encryptor to provide link security. The serial interface is switch selectable as EIA-530, EIA-530A, V.35, or RS-232. The speed of the serial link clock determines the maximum packet transfer rate.

Features
- IEEE 802.3 100BASE-FX compatible
- Serial data rate up to 15 Mbps
- Priority queue for quality of service
- Selectable EIA-530/A, V.35, RS-232 interface
- Singlemode or multimode optics
- Serial link failure pass through to optical link
- 5 Year warranty
- Compatible with RAD TinyBridge-100TM
- Tempest compliant VLAN filtering and RSTP under development

Coming Soon... OM200 Relay Contact Closure

OM200 Expands its Repertoire
September 16, 2008

The OM200 Contact Closure interface contains 12 contact sense/closure input/outputs. These I/Os are in banks of three, and each bank may be configured as either contact sense (inputs) or contact closure (outputs). The isolated dry contact outputs close when the corresponding input pins at the remote end are shorted or are driven high. This board is currently still under development and more information will be made availible as our engineering staff releases it.
